Digital X-rays

X-rays are an integral part of diagnosis and planning in any dental office. Zion Family Dentistry uses the latest in digital x-ray technology resulting in accurate images that expose patients to far less radiation than conventional x-rays. Digital x-rays offer several additional benefits to conventional x-rays including the ability to view images instantaneously and to enhance images on-the-fly. This allows for shorter appointment times and less radiation exposure to patients. We currently use PSP (phosphor storage plates), direct digital sensors, digital panographs and digital 3D cone beam CTs.  We would be happy to answer any questions you might have regarding any of our x-ray technologies.

Oral Examinations

Oral Examinations

We recommend a comprehensive examination for every new patient we see to establish a baseline and identify treatment needs. Subsequent bi-annual clinical examinations of oral soft tissue and teeth are critical to maintaining oral health and identifying any problem areas. Our dentists will evaluate the condition of each tooth as well as the condition of your tongue, gums and even your head and neck regions to identify and monitor any suspicious lumps or bumps.

Treatment Plans

Treatment Plans

After reviewing your x-rays and performing a clinical exam, your dentist will be able to present you with a treatment plan based on your current needs. We will provide you with different options and talk you through the benefits and limitations of each. We always do our best to stay within your budget and we never sacrifice the quality of your care. We understand that everyone has different financial constraints and will work with you to find a treatment that works for your situation.

Total Family Care

At Zion Family Dentistry, we treat your entire family! Bring your young child in for our complimentary "Happy Visit" so they can get acclimated to our dental office. Starting dental visits early can help alleviate fear and anxiety often felt by children whose first visit to the dentist is for their first cavity. We also treat seniors and special needs patients and everyone in between. We'd love to see you and your entire family!

Cleanings

In addition to brushing twice daily with a soft bristled toothbrush and flossing once daily, regular cleanings are an important component to oral health. Our hygienists are fully credentialed and licensed to perform dental prophylaxes (cleanings) as well as advanced procedures such as scaling and rooth planing. Cleanings remove plaque and calculus (tartar) buildup from your teeth and maintain the health of your gums. Excessive buildup of calculus around teeth can result in gingivitis and periodontitis (bone loss) that can weaken the support of teeth and ultimately result in early tooth loss.

During your cleaning appointment we will also measure the health of your gums and the tissue support of your teeth. These measurements can give us early indications of localized and generalized periodontal disease so that we can treat it early and maximize the effectiveness of treatments. Regular cleanings can also remove stubborn stain caused by coffee, smoking and wine that accumulates over time.

Toothaches

Have a toothache? Call us to schedule an emergency appointment for us to get you out of pain. We can usually see you the same day. There are many causes of tooth aches. We'll take an x-ray, perform some tests and an exam to diagnose the cause of your tooth ache and give you some options for treatments. We understand tooth aches can be debilitating. Most times we can get you out of pain right away.
